San Diego Son in Dodger Blue

San Diego Son in Dodger Blue   by Tony Fantano  Tony@RollinSD.com

The San Diego Padres have been battling their way through the 2012 season. Recently Padres fans were thrown a huge curve ball when our “native son” Adrian Gonzalez was traded to the Padres biggest rival the Dodgers. While in Boston, Gonzalez was busy fending off the Yankees and the Boston press. He was out of sight and out of the minds of a lot of San Diegans. The huge trade between Los Angeles and Boston has Padres fan asking “how could Adrian do that to us…his hometown.”
Right before Adrian went to Boston 2012 he was quoted saying that he would always be a padre fan.“ I want to see the Padres do well. In a way, this is still my team. It was my team Read more

Padres Finally Earn 10th Win Of The Season

The Padres finally earned their 10th victory of this so far dismal season. The conversation about the Padres around San Diego has dwindled down to either a whisper or a emphatic laugh. As soon as the padres pitchers so some promise they end up getting injured. Recently Cory Lubeke and Huston Street both went down with injuries. The calls keep going against San Diego and there a lot of San Diegans that believe this team has given up. Last night on May 7th the padres put up their dukes and did their best to hang on to a three run lead. Their bullpen was tested by the Rockies but the padres hung on to defeat Colorado 3-2. Chase Headley was part of the winning effort with a play at the plate. The Padres will have to fight tooth and nail for every inch to re earn the respect and loyalty form their fan base here in San Diego. Every great winning streak had to start with a first win and hopefully this win will be the one to inspire the padres to keep winning. The need to find a way to play with some swagger like they really want to win someone anyone has to light the friar under these guys.  ~Tony Fantano

The Chargers got rid of Vincent Jackson, They let him go and signed Robert MeachemWhen it comes down to it… Jackson was a self-centered player that took off plays when they team needed him to step up. Jackson would often make some bone headed plays on and off the field. Meachem looks like another version of well Vincent Jackson… Read more

SDSU Men’s Basketball Keeps Head Above Water

The San Diego Sate Men’s basketball team won a 2-point match at home by the skin of their teeth against an un-ranked opponent in Bosie St on Wednesday. A loss would have been a heavy blow for the Aztecs after losing their previous game away at Colorado St. The winning returned but just barley not thanks to a horribly-called game. The fouls went against both teams but the Aztecs remained out-of-sync through-out the entire game. Thanks to clutch free-throws down the stretch, the Aztecs were able to hold off The Broncos from Bosie St. The Show was totally packed and loud. The SHOW was the difference in the game. Read more

The Aztecs are on a tear and are terrorizing the Mountain West.  When playing home or away, the number 12th ranked Aztecs bring the heat and the other teams can’t match their intensity. UNLV came into Viejas Arena and found that they are still not top dog on the mountain even after beating no.1 ranked North Carolina. SDSU squeaked out the home win and upset UNLV. The Aztecs have been pulling out gutsy wins left and right. They believe in themselves, The Show has their back and  the other teams usually can’t even believe they lost.  Coach Fish has set high expectations and to his surprise, the 2012 Aztecs have exceeded those expectations. Hot Aztecs take down UNLV

The Aztecs are making strides to the top. SDSU beat UNLV in a dandy of a battle of two ranked teams. The scores were tight the entire game with a slight edge in the Aztecs favor. SDSU had their 6thman “The SHOW” intimidating the UNLV players with a humungous and consistent chorus of pro-Aztec chants and cheers. UNLV has been to Viejas before and usually lose, this trip wasn’t any different. For all of the on-the-court talent the Aztecs men’s basketball team lost last year, they have made up for it by inspiring their growing student section with reasons to get even louder this year. With buzzer beaters against teams like USC and UNLV, the Aztecs know that a clutch opportunity is only a game away.

Win or lose, the fans got to come out. San Diego prime time this is action-packed NCAA basketball at its finest. We want to get loud and The Show will put the rebels on lock down.

The Runnin Rebels from Las Vegas already beat a number 1 ranked team in north carolina. The game was huge for the Mountain West. A UNLV loss on saturday could add a lot of clout to The Aztecs 2012 resume. UNLV has an edge with one of the Aztecs old Bench Coaches. The little trader better not give away our Aztec secrets.
